The Wonders Of Manuka Honey
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 08-02-2009
Manuka honey is becoming an increasingly popular method of treatment for healing acne and facial scars and other skin rashes, wounds and burns all over the body. In fact it is an ancient treatment that has recently been revived and has regained acceptance as a viable natural remedy for the healing of wounds and other skin problems. The source of this special healing honey is the nectar that comes from bees harvesting the Manuka tree which has its natural habitat in New Zealand.
Part of its popularity is owing to the fact that it can act as a natural antibiotic and can be taken both orally and as a topical treatment applied directly to the surface of the skin. As a treatment for open wounds and scabs that have been picked and become infected, Manuka honey works by destroying the bacteria present in the infected wound. At the same time it acts as an effective barrier against the growth and spread of more bacteria that may otherwise form and thrive.
In fact it has been found that bacteria has so far been unable to develop a resistance to Manuka honey, so much so that it is even being used currently as a treatment for MRSA because other treatments have been unable to stop the bacteria developing resistances and mutations. Besides this anti-bacterial function the honey also acts as a nourishing cream since it cotains many healing nutrients, including anti-oxidants, vitamins and a number of amino acids which has a beneficial effect on the new scar tissue that is being generated as part of the body’s natural healing process.
Manuka honey also provides a moist environment which prevents the skin from drying out too quickly and reduces the severity of scarring by lifting up the dead cells as they are formed, allowing the new skin to lie flush with the rest of the area instead of bowing, bumping or pitting. Manuka honey has some amazing healing properties and has been used as a remedy for a wide range of ailments and problems for thousands of years. It is an amazing natural anti-biotic, a natural antiseptic, anti-fungal and acts well as an anti-oxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to this its nutritive value is well documented. So it is a very valuable natural substance which can be used to heal a whole range of issues.
